Shelves Refresh: Shelf Styling Inspiration

Shelves Refresh: Shelf Styling Inspiration mycurvesandcurlscom

Do you guys remember what these shelves used to look alike? No, I am not talking about this look, but this one from what seems to be centuries ago. If you do, that means you’ve been rocking with me for a long time. I feel like my home styling skills have come a long way. The lockdown has a lot to do with it. Since March, I have started to give my house a lot more attention since there isn’t much to do right now anyway. The family room is somewhat completed, I am working with Urban Barn to design our formal living area, and I just finished painting my boy’s room with a little help from Canadian Tire’s Ready to Roll paint, all while taking care of a newborn. Phew!

Curvy High Waisted Jeggings

Curvy Highest Waist Jeggings

Could this be the best high waisted jeans I have ever bought? Possibly. I have been on a hunt for a pair of high waisted jeans for years. I have found a few at the thrift shop but nothing high enough like these from American Eagles. I’ve probably walked inside American Eagles once before this time. I always assumed that they did not carry anything in my size, so they never been on my radar.

In case you are not aware, they have a curvy line available from size 00 to 24 and in long and short options, and your girl is hooked. I have tried a bunch but only bought one to try and see how it holds up. So far so good, I am hoping to write a proper review in the few weeks after I wash it.

Sunday’s Favorites

Sunday's Favorites plus size loungewear

Happy Sunday, loves! Nothing makes me happier than to sit down to write and share my thoughts on this blog. Unfortunately, since the arrival of #babyD, time is my new currency. I use every minute of my day wisely. I want to come back to sharing more and more on this blog moving forward. Before falling ill end year, Sunday’s favorites on my stories were the week’s most-watched videos. If you are no familiar, Sunday’s Favorites are a collection of clothes and home decor that have caught my eyes during the week. I am starting to share it again; however, we will do things differently this time. Instead of the links staying on my profile for only 24 hours, they would be here for you to come back to them whenever you want.

2020 Kia Sorento SX V6|The Power to Surprise

How much space can a family need on the road? The simple answer for ours has been “not enough.” However, every once in a while, you come across a ride that’s just what the doctor ordered.

When we found out that we were having another baby, the first thing that came into mind was shopping for a new car. One that will fit all five of us and give us plenty of room to store our suitcases and extracurricular activity equipment. When Kia Canada gave us the opportunity for an extended test drive of the 2020 Kia Sorento SX V6, we jumped on it.

We love to travel and visit new places, but with these unfortunate COVID-19 times, the opportunity for real road trips has been scarce. With that said, there’s still plenty one can do with a car such as a drive thru safari at the zoo or just plain going for a photoshoot with a full family and a complete set of equipment.

As we spend copious amounts of time in the Kia Sorento, the hospitality features have gone from anywhere between nice-to-have to downright “why didn’t we have this before?.”

In no particular order, there are a few points worthy of mention.

Every once in a while, technology manages to sneak past you and just disappear like it was always meant to be there. A good example is how the side mirrors of the Sorento unfold automatically as you approach it or how the trunk would open automatically upon getting close to it.

I’d say that’s an excellent first impression, but wait, there’s more!

As we took our first drive, I was wowed by the Safety features of this car.

First, a 360-degree camera to make sure we park and back out safely, then a lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring to keep us safe.

Everyone in a family found something to love about the Sorento. The panoramic glass roof is an absolute charm at night. The kids can’t stop marveling at it, better yet, have it open at night outside of the city and away from city lights – stargazing on wheels is a real treat. My husband loved the simple and easy to use the 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities and smart cruise control. I was grateful for the comfort, the leather upholstery ventilated seats, and the third row. I’m a mum always on the go, one thing that’s consistent throughout my days is that I always transport tons of stuff: donation boxes, plants from the nursery, quick run at my favorite furniture store, camera equipment, groceries, I could go on – this, folks, is a proper posh family hauler.

The Kia Sorento’s superior comfort and ample cargo space allows every on-the-move family to feel adventure-ready. While I am sad to return the Sorento, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to drive it for an extended period of time. If you have a growing family, on the hunt for a new ride or want to make your family road trips great and comfortable, I encourage you to add the 2020 Kia Sorento SX V6 to your list of cars to test out.

How To Save on Groceries and Household Items

How To Save on Groceries and Household Items with Giant tiger

This mama loves finding quality items at great prices. Don’t we all? From clothes to food I am always happy to save whenever I can. Grocery shopping is a big part of our weekly activities. Most times, I find myself picking a few things here and there, but Sunday is usually the day we complete our weekly shopping. We can all agree that living in a big city can be expensive. For that reason, we try to save as much as we can. As our family grew, I started to find not only ways to save on groceries and everyday household items, but also finding places that offer competitive prices. Here are two ways I’ve been saving money in the last few months:

Black family wearing old navy kids and plus size- mycurvesandcurls.com

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Super excited to share with you the first-ever tween collection for the 10-13-year-old crew, brought to you by POPSUGAR x Old Navy. We are still unsure whether the boys will be going to school this Fall; nonetheless, I am preparing them as if it were a regular year. Besides, I think both of them have gone through a growth spurt this summer, and their pants are getting shorter by the day.

Neutral & cozy living room

When we were quarantined back in March, one thing that brought me a lot of joy was decorating our home. I am ashamed to admit it, but we have lived in this house for a little over seven years, and I am still not done decorating. Part of the house is empty because I am still updating it to give it a modern look. The plan was to wait until the whole house was decorated before sharing it with you, but who knows when that would be. I’ve shared a lot of my family room on social media during Quarantine, and you guys loved it.

Easy, Breezy Summer kimonos

How to wear a kimono-plus size style

Toronto’s weather was glorious today. You could literally walk outside in shorts and a tee. It reminded me that summer is around the corner. Yes, we might still be social distancing but that does not mean we can’t dress well.
