You’ve probably learnt by now that the H&M plus size line is back in Canada.
I am sorry for the grainy pictures.
What to expect from the H&M Plus Size Stores in Canada
I must confess that I am a little bias when it comes to this review. First, I have not read a lot of good reviews about H&M’s plus size line. Second, the location of this store is too far from my house. Now that we got that of out the way, let’s talk about what you can expect from the H&M plus size line. I am so used to walking to the back of the store to get my clothes. This time, I was pleasantly surprised to find the clothes right at the entrance. This store is located in a mall, so depending on where you enter, you might see them right in front of you with a big sign. I glanced through the clothes and picked out a few to try on. The quality is the same as the straight line, but the options are not.
Most of the items currently available are all basics. There are a few cute items here and there. The pieces I’ve tried are true to size (junior sizes) expect the pair of jeans I am wearing in the above pictures. My normal size in jeans varies from 18- to 20 US. The ones In the above pictures were a size 24 US. Shocked??? I was too. The current collection has a lot of basic and printed leggings.
The H&M plus size line is not nearly as diversified and beautiful as the straight size line. I want structured clothes, cute midi skirts and fit and flared dresses. Brands are always complaining that their plus size lines do not sell. The reason they are all failing is because they are not putting enough effort to make their plus size clothes as beautiful as the rest of their lines. Another reason could be because they are not advertising to the mass. Maybe the H&M plus size line designers should pay attention to brands like Asos, Eloquii and Simply Be. They are a few of the brands that are doing a great job making trendy and well structured clothes for plus size women.
