A Mini Vacation in Mont Tremblant Village & Ski Resort

As mentioned before, I’ve decided to embrace winter and do more winter activities with my family this year. A few weeks ago, we visited one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to, The Mont Tremblant village & Ski Resort. We had actually scheduled a trip there back in December, but had to cancel because of a snow storm. I am glad we’ve finally made it there right before the end of the season.

Getting There
The Tremblant village is about 6 hours drive from Toronto and only 1.5 hours from Montreal. If you live anywhere else you can also get there by plane. There is an International airport located at 35 minutes from Mont-Tremblant. You can easily get a direct flights from Toronto during peak seasons. Since it was the four of us, we thought that getting there by car would be more economical and the view from the car just beats looking at clouds in a plane. It’s a time that my husband and I use to bond with the kids. If you do not live far from the village, I would definitely suggest getting there by car because the view is absolutely magical. The trees and mountains are blanketed with snow in some parts, in other parts you can spot frozen waterfalls, a real winter wonderland.

Where to stay

We stayed at the Marriott Residence inn right in the middle of the pedestrian village. Our room was a cozy one bedroom with a full kitchen, bathroom, living and dining area and a beautiful balcony. The hotel had an outdoor pool (although closed for the season), 2 hot tubs, a gym and a beautiful lobby. From our room we could see the beautiful mountains covered in snow and people riding the gondolas up and down. I’ve added a little video tour of our room at the end of this post. The video is not listed on youtube therefore you can only view it if you happen to stumble upon this post.
As you already know, this is a resort town, which means there are plenty of choices for places to stay at. Our first choice was the Hilton’s Homewood Suite because of the proximity to the slopes, unfortunately they were full. You have the choice between cottages, b&bs, and hotels. One of the advantages of staying within the resort is that you’re close to the pedestrian village which provides everything you need during your stay. There are plenty of stores to get your shopping fix, restaurants, art galleries, even a grocery store. Cottages and B&Bs might be a little bit cheaper, but you’ll have to carry your ski equipment in and out of the resort every day.

Activities To Do  At The Mont Tremblant village & Ski Resort.

While planning your visit, it’s always a good idea to check the Tremblant website for flash sales and packages. As we arrived to our hotel, our friends from Tourisn Tremblant had an itinerary of our activities for the weekend ready. We also received a map of the village. All we had to do was to pick up our ski gear, just a gondola ride away. We were advised to get our ski gear the same day we arrived to avoid long lines the next day. If you’re just like my family and ski once in a blue moon, Tremblant has everything you need for rental. You can get jackets, ski and snowboard gear.

Whether you’re ski lover or not there are  plenty of activities to choose from in Tremblant. To name a few, you can:
  • Wander around the cobblestone streets of the pedestrian village with a European atmosphere.
  • Tubing with the kids at the Adventure Neige.
  • Try dog sledding
  • Go swimming with the kids.
  • Indulge in some snowshoeing at domaine St Bernard
  • Ice Fishing
  • Helicopter ride
  • Create your own pottery at Le Studio Creatif
  • Shopping
  • Attend one of the numerous scheduled events
  • Make maple candies on ice (I keep telling my husband this is not an activity but the jury is still out…)…

Where to eat

The village has so many lovely restaurants. One of the restaurants we had to absolutely try was “La Maison de la Crêpe”. We’ve read some many rave reviews about this place that we were willing to wait an hour and half for a table, scratch that – the boys sat there for that long without whining just so they could try the crêpes…
This restaurant just like many others in Mont Tremblant village is very small.  You’ll have to make reservations to get a spot right away. We also ate at many other places such as the O wok , Smokey Poutiniere, the Pizzateria. I have to mention that food is very expensive at the resort. I would recommend getting some of your snacks and drinks from the grocery store.
