Do you want to know what my kids’ favorite thing is during the weekend? Waking up to a yummy breakfast instead of the usual cereals they get during the week. In this case, they helped me put the final touches to these crepes hence the all over the place drippings.
I have a lot of gadgets in my kitchen. I will be lying if I say that I use them all because I do not. I do love the ones I go back to over and over again. Before getting the Vitamix E310 a few weeks ago, I used a blender from Cuisinart that was given to me as a wedding gift 12 years ago. I know what you must be thinking, who keeps a gadget for that long. Well! I did and used it until I got my hands on the Vitamix E310 Explorian. That’s when I realized that I have been using a very outdated machine. What used to take me 5 minutes to make only takes 30 seconds now. Say what?
I promise I am not exaggerating. I was introduced to the Vitamix E310 Explorian Series Blender during the official Canadian launch last February. The moment I saw chef Craig Wong from Patois Toronto blend his famous jerk chicken mix I knew I needed this machine in my life.
What to expect from the Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender?
This new Explorian Series Blender retails for about $419. It’s perfect for a medium sized family as the container can hold up to 48 ounces. It comes with a stick, a recipe book, and the instruction manual. You can use it to make a wide range of recipes including but not limited to bread, smoothies, baby food, soup, sauces and crepes batter. I love the fact that it has variable speed and pulse options which is amazing because now I can even crush nuts. My friend owns the 5200 and the difference between two isn’t that noticeable expect this one is much more affordable and easy to store. With the help of the blender stick to mix my fruit, I make the perfect smoothie blend every single time. Now let’s talk about how to make these yummy crêpes your kids will love.

How to make sweet crêpes using a blender.
Before getting this blender, I used to blend my crêpes batter the old-fashioned way with a whisk. Yes, it’s easier to use a blender but if you do not own one you can still make them. Making crêpes at home might sound daunting, but with practice and the right tools, you’ll be a pro in no time. This is recipe is meant for sweet fillings only, however, If you were to go ahead and use the crêpes for savory fillings avoid adding sugar and add a pinch of salt instead. You will need
- 2 cups of flour
- 3 eggs
- 2 Tbsp of sugar
- 1 1/4 cups of whole milk
- 1 cup of water
- 1 1/2 Tbsp of melted unsalted butter or canola oil
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
Add all the ingredients to Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender and blend until smooth. Then, pour the batter into a large bowl. Feel free to use it immediately or for better results refrigerate for an hour or more.
To cook them, lightly grease a non-stick pan. Pour in about 1/4 of a cup under medium heat. Quickly swirl the pan to make sure the batter covers the entire pan. Cook both sides until brown and you are done. Stuff them with whatever sweet stuffing you like and enjoy!
