3 Foundations For Dark Skin Tones I am loving right now

One of the most fun parts of what I do is being able to try so many new makeup products throughout the year. I definitely have more makeup and skincare products that I can use in a lifetime. Even with the daily packages, one thing I still invest my money in is a good foundation. Even with the recent extension of many lines to add more shades, finding the perfect shade for darker skin tones is still a bit of a challenge.

Before I share my three current fave foundations for dark skin tones let’s quickly thank Rihanna for really shaking the industry a couple of years ago by launching a foundation line with 40 shades right out of the bat. No, Fenty was not the first brand to carry 40 shades, however, they made it a point to include black women into their marketing. And it worked because since then, many brands have been around the clock to cater to darker skin tones women. As someone who has been on the hunt for makeup suitable for deeper skin tones for years, I am happy to see more choices for us.

Here is what I am wearing on my face above.

3 Foundations For Dark Skin Tones

BECCA’s Ultimate Coverage 24-Hour Foundation

Raise your hand if you knew Becca cosmetics carried foundations for dark skin women. I had no idea. This foundation was my first ever purchase from them and I love it. I usually watch and read reviews before making a purchase but this was a purchase I made during a walk-in at Sephora. It is a full-coverage, 24-hour wear, water-resistant foundation for all skin types. It has a thick consistency to it, so two pumps usually cover my entire face. My shade Mahogany is the third before last so there are two other darker shades. The foundation retails for $52 and it’s and worth every penny.

Mat Velvet + Mattifying Foundation

When a foundation claims to keep my face oil free for 24 hours, I simply shake my head because I have yet to find such a product. The Mat Velvet + foundation claims to conceals skin imperfections, evens out the complexion and mattifies with a non-oily finish.z I won’t say your skin will stay matte all day but this one of the best mattifying foundation that i’ve tried. It works best when I paired it with the Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer Caramel Primer.

Not sure yet if this has been discontinued because I can no longer find it on the Sephora website but if it has not, dark skin or no dark skin this foundation has a good formula.

Maybelline Super Stay®Foundation

I have been using the Maybelline Superstay Foundation in the shade Cocoa the longest. It has recently been relaunched and now I wear #362 truffle which I think it’s slightly darker than the cocoa and the last in the shade range. It is one of my absolute drugstore foundations and perfect for everyday use. It is a medium coverage foundation but can be built to full coverage, has a matte finish, and can last up to 12 hours. I know the product claims to last 24 H but I don’t know anyone that wears foundations for that long. My skin is very oily and even though this is a matte finish you might need to use some bloating paper mid-day.

I hope this post is helpful. Let me know what is your favorite foundation whether it is for dark skin women or not. If you like this post, make sure you to check other posts in the beauty section of the blog.
