This post is in collaboration with Urban Barn
The living room is one of the most important parts of the home. It is the first place we prioritize when we start decorating our new homes. Oh! And also the place we lounge and entertain. I am so excited to share with you today our second living area in collaboration with Urban Barn. In case you do not know, Urban Barn is a proudly Canadian furniture and décor company. They offer hundreds of furniture, lighting, and décor items for your home that range from modern and industrial to rustic farmhouse.
Working with a furniture company on a full room makeover has always been a goal of mine. I am glad Urban Barn agreed to take on the challenge with me to make this room the most beautiful in our home yet. Because we have two living areas in our house, and this is the one you see when you enter, I wanted the space to reflect my style and give a good impression as soon as you walk through the door. I have worked with their virtual design studio to bring my vision to life: a comfortable, functional, and stylish room. They helped me plan the space and answer style questions because you know your girl can’t make up her mind regarding design style.
I have come to terms with the fact that my home will never fall into popular interior design styles and that is OK. The beauty of shopping at Urban Barn is that you will always find something for your home no matter your design style. If you want to schedule your own personal design consultation with Urban Barn’s virtual design studio, the service is free and you can make your appointment online here.
Here’s a reminder of where we started.
This room has great bones, beautiful light, and is perfectly sized. The couch we had there was comfortable but too big for the space. The first piece that caught my eye was the Renfrew Leather Sofa: a nice, classy camel sofa that just fits the bill. The design is sleek; it can be used in both casual and formal settings. I am not a fan of matching furniture. Instead of getting the matching Renfrew armchair, we decided to pair it with the Coleman Armchairs – they’re airy, firm and comfortable to sit on.
In the opposite corner, I added the Mondo Chair. If you are looking for a stylish and cozy accent chair, you cannot go wrong with the Mondo chair. I am sure I spent more time staring at the chair than I have done sitting on it. From the moment, the Mondo chair arrived, the boys have legit been fighting for sitting time. The cushion is smooth, which makes it the perfect chair to sit in to enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book. Both the virtual team and I thought it would be nice to put in the corner of the room next to the window. To pull the little reading nook together, we’ve paired the Mondo chair with the Perkins Tuck Table and the Myers Leather Ottoman .
When I started to take interior styling seriously, I bought a lot of small items to fill the room. Now I am all about going big or going home, so I chose the Attenborough Coffee Table. It’s big enough to fill the space and has two storage drawers and an open shelf. You can keep your remotes, magazines and little knick-knacks in there for a tidy room. To tie the room together, we had to have the Varennes Rug. Unfortunately, the size we wanted was not available, so we opted for the smaller one. We layered it with this Antique Rug. We are still going to keep our eye out for the bigger version of the Varennes rug.
A living room is never completed without a little greenery. Urban Barn has a good selection of faux plants you know just in case your thumbs are not green. The Raye Pearl Palm Tree Potted and the Kani Aloe Plant Potted added the right amount color. Putting the perfect pillow combo on your couch and armchairs is a form of art. Wouldn’t you agree? We found a lot of options but the Mazatlan Toss, Robson Toss Sahana Toss were just perfect for the room.
The holiday season is upon us (A busy time for me), which means I won’t have a lot of time to look for different artwork for the space. Therefore, using a bold piece of art that grabs your attention right away was what I needed. The Frond Wall Art is a beautiful piece. One was just not going to cut it, so we used two and put them side by side. Genius, I know!
The room turned out to be more than we envisioned. If you know me, you already know I am a self-confessed furniture re-arranger, so I am sure the next time you see this room, there will be a few small changes because home styling is a never-ending process. A big thank you to Urban Barn for bringing my vision to life and for being patient. What do you guys think? Like how the room turned out?
