Neutral & cozy living room

When we were quarantined back in March, one thing that brought me a lot of joy was decorating our home. I am ashamed to admit it, but we have lived in this house for a little over seven years, and I am still not done decorating. Part of the house is empty because I am still updating it to give it a modern look. The plan was to wait until the whole house was decorated before sharing it with you, but who knows when that would be. I’ve shared a lot of my family room on social media during Quarantine, and you guys loved it.

I get questions daily about where I got everything from, so I’ve decided to compile photos of the family room, share where I got items from and links to similar items.

Our family room has evolved over the last few years of living in this house. If you’ve been reading here for a while, then you may remember it when it was yellow. In fact, when we bought the house, every room was a different color. A coat of white paint then bam! we got ourselves a brand new house. It might not look like it but finding the perfect layout for this high ceiling was a bit of a challenge. It took several trials to end up where we are today.

When I was designing this space, I wanted to create a relaxing atmosphere, a place the whole family could gather. The main reason I stock with these neutral colors is that I like to switch things out every season. I can easily switch the accessories such as pillows, throws, plants without buying a whole new living room.

Without further ado here is what our family room looks like these days. I am always changing thing around so if you notice little discrepancies here and there that’s why.

This sideboard is from Urban Barn. It’s the one piece of furniture that was missing from this room. It brought everything together and added the right amount warmth into the room. Next to the sideboard is a beautiful black wicker planter I purchased from HomeSense. I’ve only found one online that is close to it here. I will make sure to link more options as I find them. Here are some similar sideboards.

This Bull printed art is from Bouclair. I wanted something fun in this spot but also something that will fill the wall. Down the line, I might change it for some photos of the boys. The two ceramic vases on top of the sideboard are from homesense and purchased the brown one from Value Village.

Where is your sectional from is the question I get the most about this room. The sectional is called the horizon. We bought it from Structube a while back. At the time, it was the only one that fit within our budget. With three boys, I am not kin to drop big bucks on luxurious pieces of furniture yet. We love the fact that it has no legs, which makes the room feel cozy, especially during winter. You can get a similar modular sectional here and here I get most of my pillows from H&M, HomeSense, and Pier imports.

Oh I just realized I did not talk about the painting. I purchased it from Homesense a year ago.
