I hope you guys are having a fantastic month. We are still on lockdown over here, so the only way to get my fashion fix these days is by making these collages, hoping to recreate some of them by the end of the summer.

Slip dresses are not only a summer essential but a wardrobe essential, period. They are light, easy to style, and for the most part, comfortable. Oh! They also make a great transitional piece. You can wear them on their own during the hot summer months and add great layering pieces at the beginning of Fall or Spring.

How to find the perfect slip dress?

Slip dresses can range from mini dresses to maxis and everything in between. Some people like theirs to be more conservative, while others like myself like them to hit us right at mid-calf. That way, I can easily style them with heels, flats, or sneakers.

Let’s talk about fabric.

Most slip dresses are made with silky fabric, which is great, but the truth is silky fabrics are not always forgiving to those of us with a bit of curve. If you go for a silky version and plan to go to a formal gathering, feel free to pick up my favorite Spanx here, otherwise do whatever you are comfortable with. If you do not own a slip dress yet, I recommend purchasing a black or a beige one first then venturing to more color. A good plus-size slip dress is hard to come by but before we move on to how to wear them here are a few currently on the market.
