8 places to buy Affordable plus size clothing in Canada

After blogging for many years, the question about where to buy affordable plus size clothing in Canada still pops up on my feed now and then. To be honest, this question is a little hard to answer because what might be affordable to me might not be for you.We can least agree that a piece of clothing under $50 is affordable to most. If you’re a long time reader, you already know most of the items I wear on this blog are accessible to everyone.

I find that many plus size boutiques and stores hike their prices just because the clothing is plus and not necessarily because of quality. Sorry to sound like a broken record. The price hike is one of the reasons why I rock with Reitmans. Their pieces are priced the same across the board and the prices are decent.

A place I always find affordable plus size clothing is Forever 21. Granted many of their items do not fit within with my current style, but from time to time, I find a few pieces I love.

This Gingham puff sleeves bodysuit is actually a knockoff and the plus version of this Johanna Ortiz bodysuit ( retails for $995). I wish you could have seen my excitement when I scored it for less than $60. The top has some stretch to it. I would recommend sizing up if you have a big bust. I paired it with this plus size white denim I bought years ago from Addition Elle. It was purchased for a little fortune but worth every penny. The fit and the length are perfect.

Old Navy

I love shopping at Old Navy. I once bought a pair of Jeans for only $1.94. Never leave the store without checking the clearance section. When customers return online exclusive items to the store, they are put on sale for half the price (5o% off). Since their plus size selection is only sold online, the chances of you finding affordable plus size dresses, jeans and activewear are pretty high.Online Shopping available

Marshalls/ Winners

Believe it or not, Marshalls and Winners have some affordable plus size clothing. Check out the pieces I found during my recent collaboration with Marshalls here here here. Online shopping NOT available

Forever 21

Just like I previously mentioned, I cannot make a list of plus size affordable clothing without including Forever 21. The sizes are junior plus, so keep that in mind when you try on the clothes. The’ve recently started adding other brands to their online selection. Online Shopping available

Reitmans

There are only three things you need to know about Reitmans. You pay the same as everyone; it’s the perfect place to find work clothes and the prices are affordable. Regular shoppers always get coupons. Online Shopping available

Thrift shops

Nothing I love more than going thrifting on weekends. A few years ago, I bought the most amazing jackets in my closet from thrift shops. The funny thing is that is cost me more to clean them. Thrifting is not everyone’s cup of tea but I promise you if you give it a chance, you’ll thank me later. Online Shopping NOT available

Joe Fresh

Joe Fresh launched their plus size line last year. To be honest the selection is very minimal but just like reitmans the prices are the same across the board. Online Shopping available.

H&M

I have love/ hate relationship with H&M. First, the selection is very minimal, second; they now moved everything online. With that being said If you are looking for affordable basic and casual items you can check them out. Online Shopping available.

Your Big Sister’s Closet

Your Big Sister’s closet is one of the best plus size boutiques in Toronto. Their clothes are super trendy and affordable. Karen and Peter are both plus size and they know what plus size women want. Check out my post about them a few years ago. Online Shopping available.
