Summer is on its way out ! So excited for big scarves, long sleeves and dark lipsticks. I haven’t worn a lot of maxi dresses this summer, so I could not wait to break into this one as soon as I received it.You may remember it as one of my suggestions in my 10 must have Fall plus size dresses post. This plus size maxi dress is part of the Melissa McCarthy latest collection available on Nordstrom. It also comes in black and magenta. Read More »

(Post updated with new post options August 2017)
After blogging for a few years now, I sound like a broken record talking about Fall wardrobe essentials. To be honest, not a lot of things have changed between last year and now beside the options of course. It’s time to start thinking about transitional pieces and stock up on a few Fall wardrobe essentials. Read More »
Guess who is back with another Plus size shacket post? You loved the first one so much that I had to come back for a second round. Most of the options in the first post are sold out. Today, I will share more plus-size shackets with y’all and a few ways to wear them. If you care less about how to style your plus size shackets scroll down to the bottom of the post to find some options
Assuming you are very new to this trend, you first need to determine if you want a long or short shacket, then, think about color and fabrics. I love the long ones because they look good with bottoms, jeans, leggings, skirts, and even dresses. The most popular shackets are usually plaid, reasons why they are very trendy around the fall season. They are super cute, but I get more wear out of the plain ones, and I can wear them in fall, winter, and spring. The shacket trend is here to stay for at least another season or two, so if you like them I recommend getting one on time for next spring and fall.
It is that time of the year and I am not talking about Christmas. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is in full swing and I am here to share with you my picks from everything from the plus-size to the shoe section. This event is Nordstrom’s biggest, and most popular sales event of the year. It is a great way to stock up for the Fall season at a discounted rate. Nordstrom Canada is one of my favorite places to shop. First, because they are one of the few stores that carry size 12 shoes in Canada, second the service is always impeccable. For instance, when a piece of clothing or shoe isn’t available in my size in the store they always do their best to find it and ship it to my home for free!
Want to see some lip dress outfit Ideas for Summer? I got you.
I hope you guys are having a fantastic month. We are still on lockdown over here, so the only way to get my fashion fix these days is by making these collages, hoping to recreate some of them by the end of the summer.
Slip dresses are not only a summer essential but a wardrobe essential, period. They are light, easy to style, and for the most part, comfortable. Oh! They also make a great transitional piece. You can wear them on their own during the hot summer months and add great layering pieces at the beginning of Fall or Spring.
It’s only natural to want to look good for Sunday brunch these days especially if there is a 100% chance the photo might end up on the gram. Putting together a stylish and affordable brunch outfit has gotten easier than ever thanks to Walmart. This post is not sponsored however I recently did a social media partnership with Walmart Canada to promote their Spring/ Summer collection and this tiered chambray dress was one of the items I picked up. Yes, friends, everything I am wearing in today’s post is from Walmart but it gets better. Each item is less that $30.
I am sure you stumbled on this post because you’re looking for African print designs and attires for plus size women. I know your pain, that’s why I’ve decided to put this post together and share with you a few places to purchase plus size African print attires. Africa is a huge continent (Nope it’s not a country) with a lot of different cultures. If there is one thing that most African countries share it’s their love for prints. Yes. we love our prints.
One of the many perks of living in Africa is that you can customize everything you wear. In Mali, we have tailors in almost every street corner. It’s a matter of seeing something you like, buy your fabric of choice and hit the tailor. I miss that. Everything I am wearing today was made for me while I was on vacation a couple of years ago.
During my years of blogging, I have noticed that African prints or some might call it Ankara has become very popular in the US and around the world. The fabrics are now made in Asia and have been worn by countless of celebrities. With that popularity, it’s only normal that designers want to cash in. One name that comes to mind is Haitian designer Stella Jean and even recently Dior.
With a big name comes prices. If you are an average joe like myself and looking for something affordable, below is a shortlist of designers that make plus size African print designs.
Whether you are plus size or not Etsy is the go-to store for beautifully crafted African print dresses, skirts, and blazers. All the dresses are handmade which gives you a little bit of room to customize the items you want. The sellers are available from all corners of the world.
At the end of this post, you’ll find some of my favorite plus size African print sets, skirts, and dresses. Just click on each photo to shop.
I hope everybody is had a great week. I have no complaint so far because the weather has been more than beautiful the last few days. Still cannot believe we are in November. Last week, I wrote a post about leggings. Let me rewind; it was actually about plus size long tops to wear with leggings. I broke down the post in different sections and noticed that many of you were more interested in the plus size long sweaters section. That is totally understandable, after all winter is coming. I feel like I see plus size long sweaters everyday while I am doing research for other posts, but for some reason, I had a hard time finding cute ones today. No worries, I went to digging mode and came up with a few that I loved. A few of them were included in my previous post, but most of them are new items. Hopefully, you’ll find something from the list below.
Read More »Let’s talk about finances. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite subject especially given the limited amount of financial education we get from school. Seriously, why aren’t we taught about managing our money in school? I am certainly not an expert when it comes to money but after freelancing for a certain amount of years and married to someone who checks our bank accounts at least a couple of time a day, I have learned a thing or two.
There are many aspects of money management I’d like to touch on in the future but today I want to focus on budgeting and saving. I took a poll on my Instastories to find out what you guys struggle with the most and the result indicated that most people had issues with saving. Let’s just say in order to save you must know where your money is going. Budgeting is the most important step to conquering your finances. In other words, having a plan for your money is key. It allows you to plan your year and month based on your income. I’ve always been comfortable with managing my money even before freelancing- Shocking because I don’t like playing with numbers. The freezing temperature this past weekend was a little reminder that winter is coming. Oh! Also a reminder that Christmas is only 42 days away. Even though I’ve had a busy week, I still managed to start with my holiday decoration.
Kicking off a full week of holiday posts with this beautiful dress from Reitmans‘ Signature Collection- A specially curated collection of glamorous holiday styles and accessories. A few days ago I had the opportunity to see, touch and feel the entire collection. I can tell you right now that you are in for a treat. Read More »
